Stark comparisin... are we repeating history?

In the past two months there has been a lot of coverage of the Occupy Wallstreet movement and the protests being held across the nations in various cities. A recent photo of protesters at UC Davis in California shocked me. When I saw the photo of the students being doused by Police with pepper spray, I was immediately reminded of an image that I viewed last year in my media studies class, an image of student protesters in Birmingham, AL during the civil rights protests. There is a shocking resemblance in these two photos of students standing up for what they believe in and standing up for their rights:
